Second Grade

Hello,
Just a note to let you know what we are doing in Second Grade:

Last week, Ms. Ruggerio came in from the Food Co-op and the children could pick four vegetables to make their own salad.  They could choose from the following foods:
red leaf lettuce
green & purple cabbage
red & golden beets
orange, white & purple carrots
cucumbers
apples
tomatoes
orange & purple bell peppers
You should have seen the children eat their salads!  Most bowls were empty.

We continue to research the various characteristics of Mammals, Birds, Amphibians, and Reptiles.

In Math, we are adding Algebra techniques to our adding and subtracting.

Enjoy the long weekend ahead and encourage your child to read a good book!

Hello Second Grade Families,
We are classifying animals into four groups:  Mammals, Birds, Amphibians, and Reptiles.  We will take a close look at their characteristics and the specific animals in each group.
We read a story about a girl who is deaf.  So, I brought some Sign Language books to school and we have been learning how to communicate by signing.  We also have practiced the alphabet.
